SO ... what will I write about?

I've been writing for 6 years now. I've wanted to write since I was a kid. I spent much of my childhood lost in one book or another and, even as an adult, I spend my days surrounded by books. Just over 12,000 of them, in fact. Yes, I'm a librarian but not just any librarian ... I'm a media coordinator in an elementary school, a place that challenges every trained shushing cell in my body.

We've got a loud library ... so loud, in fact, that I've gotten used to working in chaos, which is convenient since most of my time is spent either with my own two children or my other 485 children. Kids have no sense of reverence in solitude. No concept of quiet time. My only hesitation in this is that, though I can work in these conditions, I've never been able to write with too much going on around me.

Since I'll have to be writing in a swirling vortex of activity, I get the feeling that this challenge will either make or break me as a writer. Can I write here at my desk while Spongebob and Crash Bandicoot are vying for aural dominance in our small living room? Will my children spend the next month locked in their rooms?

(now there's a pleasant thought ... aah)

Make or break. Vote or die. Must everything be so black and white?

But I digress ... what am I writing about, you ask? Good question. When I figure it out, I'll let you know. I'm letting ideas coagulate even as I write this.
