I don’t normally watch American Idol past the initial auditions. There are just better things I could watch during that time slot. Tonight, there is nothing else on because of basketball on CBS, and I want to be sure I’m on Fox at 9 when Hell’s Kitchen comes on, so I’m stuck with AI tonight.
My question is, since this is a singing contest why are they lip syncing the opening number?

Yes, but I consider this more of a contest than actual ‘reality’ TV. If these people are here because they can sing, they should have to sing everything.
